♦ CLASS: chimaera
♦ SPECIES: steelix
♦ ABILITY: sturdy
♦ AGE: thirty-six
♦ GENDER: male
♦ HOME CITY: Azure
♦ APPEARANCE: Hinata looks rather strange upon first meeting him since all you really see is a lanky man with far too much hair that conceals his eyes. His long, silvery hair is completely natural, though some might think he slowly went grey after the stress of war. His hair reaches past his hips, and any attempts at keeping his bangs at a reasonable length are often forgotten as he grows too fed up with keeping up with his hair. Beneath his bangs are narrowed eyes of a vibrant green eyes. The beauty of his eyes, however, is often overshadowed by the long scar cutting across his face. Aside from his face and hair, Hinata has pale skin with countless other scars littering his body. Most of his scars are hidden behind his clothing. He stands at about 6'1", and his weight is unknown. Despite how he looks, his appetite his limitless as he burns off too much energy whenever he shifts. It often takes days to regain that energy, and he is always willing to take an offer for someone else to pay for his food.History
♦ PERSONALITY: Hinata is, for the most part, indifferent and apathetic. He doesn't show very much emotion, and any that appears in any sort of conversation is assumed to be nothing more than an act so those around him are comfortable in his presence. However, you are more likely to see a frown on his face than a true, happy smile. He tries to keep himself out of conflict to the best of his ability, yet being a "neutral party" is often infuriating to most of those he crosses paths with. He often gets into fights just because someone doesn't like the look on his face, even if they can only see motions from his mouth and nose. He can be provoked rather easily if you know what to say; however, finding just what you need to say or do to make him mad is the hard part.
Despite trying to keep a wall of apathy around him, Hinata has been known to sway easily towards the ideals of anyone he respects. His loyalty is strong, but gaining that loyalty takes time. His loyalty is as blind as that of a dog's once you have it, and this can lead to him getting into sticky situations just because he would jump of a cliff if they told him to. Perhaps the military training instilled in him works a little too much. It is also those who he truly comes to trust that he is willing to let the wall crumble just a little to reveal the true him. Yet, he's also afraid to get too close to someone as he has grown accustomed to being betrayed and losing those he cares for.
♦ CHIMAERA: The DNA of an Steelix was chosen due to the need for stronger beings during the war. Since Hinata was already a seasoned soldier, it only seemed fitting at the time. The scars on his body are transferred onto his other form as jagged, shallow cuts in his armor. Shifting also has a tendency to cause him to forget who he is on the battlefield, leading to recklessness and heavy aggression.
Born to a family in servitude to one of the families of nobility, Hinata had always wanted more with his life. He grew up washing floors and bowing his head. He spent long days doing whatever was told of him with his life on a tight leash. He had little free will. It was to be expected of a servant, and no one expected anything else from him. His own parents were worked harder than he was just to get meager pay to put bread on their table. His mother even worked through her first and second pregnancies, going right up until she went into labor. First came Hinata and then came his little brother, and both children suffered the same fate as his parents. They worked and worked, and there was no time for education.
It wasn't until he ended up making friends with their master's youngest son that he was able to have a taste of anything other than his life of servitude. His new friend was willing to teach him how to read and write. He was taught basic mathematics. He was even given whatever his friend could keep hidden from his own meals; he was given a taste of something other than bread and potato soup. He grew to adore his higher class friend, idolizing him like a god. Yet, he was soon faced with the cold, hard truth of the world: they were never meant to remain friends. As they grew older, his friend began to turn cold towards him as he allowed himself to conform to the ideals of his father, of Hinata's master. He was given the cold shoulder whenever they met in the halls of the manor. He was not longer allowed to see his friend's cheerful, beautiful smile.
Hinata then decided once and for all that he was going to make a better life for himself. He set off to join the kingdom's military. They received better pay; they received training. They received more than he ever would while working as nothing more than a servant. Upon joining, he cut off most of his ties with his family. He refused to answer any of their letters, and he refused to visit during days off. He did not want to return to the life he once had. And, yet, he still took a portion of his pay and sent it to his parents. Despite only wanting very limited contact with them, he still wanted them to prosper. Usually, the money would arrive around the time of one of their birthdays or around time for holiday. He never signed the letter he attached with the money. He simply left it with, from a special friend.
He found that life as one of the kingdom's soldiers was much more beneficial and, dare he say it, fun. He enjoyed being able to train just about every day. He enjoyed sparring with the other soldiers. He enjoyed the violence. Hinata began to make a name for himself as he grew in skill, rank, and age, and he found that he would die for his kingdom if that was how the fates wanted it.
So, when they requested for any volunteers, he volunteered without a moment's thought, without even considering what they needed volunteers for. His world went dark, and his world changed forever. When he woke up, he could feel power pulsing through his veins. They didn't even bother to brief him before shoving him onto the battlefield. The first shift was painful and long. It was terrifying to watch, and it horrified himself. Yet, once it was over, he could only feel bloodlust. Enemy soldiers fell around him as his massive size easily broke through the weaker human forces. There were even those one his own side who made one wrong move and ended up in the line of fire. The Pokemon forces were another matter all together as the large hunk of steel found them harder to fend off in the foreign body, yet he made use of his size to knock back and flatten those that he could.
The war was over too soon for him, but he couldn't do anything other than remain silent. The new home he had made for himself was taken away from him as even those whom he once called friend looked at him in fear. What had he done wrong? He had fought for his kingdom like anyone else. Angered and confused, Hinata disappeared to figure things out. He remained in the shadows whenever he slipped into towns for supplies. Otherwise, he stuck to the wilds to cause as little damage as possible whenever he needed to shift and attempt to hone his skills. He grew out his hair, making it harder to recognize him without pulling up his bangs. He receded into the depths of his mind, hoping to keep suspicion from arising and to keep the monster within from surfacing.
And then came the call for revolution.
