Character Details
♦ APPEARANCE: Andy is average in height and has a medium size build. He has spiky, golden blond hair and light hazel eyes. He has a dark tan skin color. His back is filled with scars from where the spines of his back from his Sandslash form are. He has a scar over his right shoulder and one that stretches from the left of his chest to his right hip. He likes to wear some type of trench coat and hiking boots and he normally wears fingerless gloves.
♦ PERSONALITY: Most people think of Andy as a jerk. He’s mean and insults others without thinking about it, mostly using some form of sarcasm. His personality helps to keep people at arm’s length and stops most from trying to befriend him. Secretly, he does miss having friends but he doesn’t trust others enough to let them get past the walls he’s put around himself. For those that have the patience to put up with his attitude and have shown trust to him, he’s incredibly loyal. While he won’t become nice to anyone, he’ll stop any needless insults. He’ll keep being sarcastic but it will be much more playful in nature. Coming from a close-knit tribe, he hates liars and hypocrites. He values promises a lot and refuses to make one that he won’t keep. Another thing about Andy is that he’s restless and very easy to distract. He constantly moves from place to place, a trait he picked up from his nomadic tribe. He gets side tracked often, turning an activity that should only take minutes take hours because something else caught his attention. From all the attributes people can have, Andy values strength the most; a side effect of growing up in the Valley where only the strong survive.
♦ CHIMAERA: Andy was spliced with a Sandslash. While he doesn't know why, he assumes the reason the scientist chose Sandslash was because he was from the Valley in the Wild, a place filled with rocky cliffs.
History
Andy was born into a nomad tribe in the wild. The tribe had its own culture and language, mainly keeping away from the kingdoms except to trade goods. He was given a traditional name by his parents. His tribe considered freedom the greatest state of being, and strived to be as free as the winds by moving constantly. However, the place they stayed in the most was the Valley, causing Andy to learn from a young age how to rock climb. His tribe was fairly small, only consisting of a few families. Andy was the oldest child of his family which consisted of him, his parents, and two younger siblings.
One day when Andy was playing around in the Valley, he noticed some strangers. Curious, he snuck towards them. While Andy’s tribe had learned about the war going on because of travelers and some refugees, they considered the war none of their business. It was just something that the kingdom people did and as long as it didn’t affect the wild, his tribe saw no reason to pay attention to it. Because of this attitude, Andy didn’t fear the strangers. He walked up to them and asked if they needed help. It was one of the few phrases he knew of their language. He had assumed that they were lost and since they were from the kingdoms, would need help surviving and getting home.
However, he was wrong. They were scientist looking for strong test subjects. It was well known that you had to be strong to survive in the wild and the scientists were looking for strong test subjects. However, since people in the Wilds traveled in groups, they were expecting it to be difficult to get one alone. They decided to catch him, despite his young age. Because he wasn’t fluent in their language, Andy didn’t realize what was going on until it was too late. They took him to the labs and turned him into a Sandslash Pokemorph.
Afterwards, Andy was put into the Crimson army. He had a hard time adjusting to the army. He couldn't understand all of the orders, hadn't been trained for war, and felt like this wasn't his war. He had a bad case of culture shock and the one thing his tribe valued most, freedom, had been ripped away from him. In a small act of rebellion, Andy refused to tell anyone his name. As a joke, one of the soldiers said that they should just call him Acorn because he just as small and hard to crack as one. Somehow, the name stuck. At the time, Andy didn't know what it meant, so he didn’t protest it. By the time he figured out the meaning, it was too late. He chose Andy has his name and although he tried to get everyone to call him that, no one did.
A Noctowl pokemorph saw how Andy was struggling and decided to take him under his wing. He became Andy’s mentor, helping him adjust to this new world and teaching him everything he needed to know, including becoming fluent in the common language. Without his help, Andy would have definitely been killed. The two formed a close relationship and Andy saw him as a sort of father figure. Unfortunately, the Noctowl was struck down in battle. Andy was devastated. He became depressed, yelling at anyone who came close. This was about the time that he started to keep to himself. However, the soldiers around him refused to leave him alone, forcing him to hang out with them. With their help he started to heal a little.
After the last battle, Andy was horrified when all of the people he had known in the army began to treat him as a monster. They were the same people who just days before were comforting him. Lost and confused at being shunned by the army he had begun to think of as family, he left. He’s picked up the nomadic lifestyle again, wandering in whichever direction catches his interest. While he’s thought about returning to his tribe, he’s too afraid of being rejected again to search for them.
